Lab-Gear

2001 saw Design Ronin launch Lab-Gear, a self funded brand centred on technical clothing, selling exclusively in the online sphere to a global market.

In 2009 Lab-Gear launched its fully bespoke, natural fiber product line, concentrating on Australian Superfine Merino and other natural based textiles. The driving force was focused to maintain a ‘low petroleum footprint’, ensuring Lab-Gear’s materials are manufactured within Australia whenever possible. The secondary focus is based on using non Chinese/South East Asian produced materials and goods as much as possible, ensuring the bulk of  ‘raw materials’ used to create Lab-Gear’s line are sourced from Australia, New Zealand and the EU.

In 2011, a decade after it started, Lab-Gear established all new and regionally dedicated e-commerce sites, making use of numerous online technologies + systems to create a unique online experience for its global customer base.

As part of the expansion the relaunch saw the Lab-Gear name altered with the addition of ‘:workshop’, to emphasise the collaborative projects being undertaken as well as highlighting the handmade nature of the business.
